The only difference between a Florida room and a sun room is the name.

Back to Questions
Which of the rooms is the easiest/least expensive to convert to glass?
Any of the rooms can be converted to glass; the cost depends on what windows are going to be put in. Vinyl and single-pane non-insulated windows are the cheapest to put in. If the existing room is framed in wood, we suggest that the wood be replaced with aluminum extrusions for the best appearance.

Back to Questions
Can windows be cut to any size?
Yes, because all of the rooms are custom built, the windows can be any size. Price increases more with height than with width. Most standard windows (w/o tint) are kept in stock. (standard size-60” x 60” or 5’x 5’)

Back to Questions

What are Lexan Thermoclear Roof Panels?
Lexan Thermoclear Roof Panels are a twin-walled polycarbonate designed with air channels for thermal insulation. It permits 90% light transmission and up to 40% greater energy efficiency than regular glass.  It offers impact strength, high light transmission, light weight, and UV protection. How do vinyl windows compare with windows made from other materials?
The performance and longevity of vinyl windows compare very favorably to those of other building materials, and vinyl often costs less to produce. Vinyl windows and doors are rapidly capturing a major market share as more builders and homeowners learn about vinyl's outstanding value and economy.

Long-lasting beauty, low maintenance and excellent thermal efficiency ratings give vinyl windows a winning edge over other types of replacement windows. The vinyl compound is produced with extra levels of UV inhibitors to help withstand harsh weather conditions, and it is recyclable and environmentally friendly. Vinyl won't pit or peel over time with only simple care and cleaning, windows can keep their beautiful appearance for years to come.

What is Low E/Argon gas, and how does it work?
Low E (Emissivity) Glass is glass with a transparent metallic oxide coating applied onto or into a glass surface. The coating allows short-wave energy to pass through but blocks up to 84% of UV rays that can fade your carpets, drapes and furniture.
Argon Gas is an odorless, colorless, tasteless, non-toxic gas that is six times more dense than air. It is used to replace air between the glass panes to reduce temperature transfer and to keep cold air out in the winter and warm out in the summer.

What causes condensation on windows?
Condensation, or "sweating," is a natural occurrence on all windows and is caused by excess humidity, or invisible water vapor, present in the air. When this water vapor comes in contact with a surface which is at a cooler temperature, the vapor turns to visible droplets of moisture.
Each window has many features built in to keep the temperature of the glass as warm as possible and thus reduce condensation. Our insulating glass units provide superior energy efficiency to reduce the potential for condensation. However, there is no such thing as a condensation-free window in high humidity conditions. Controlling the amount of moisture in your home is the most effective action you can take to avoid condensation.
Back to Questions
Why should you install fully vented soffit?
  • Air always contains water
  • When air contacts a cold surface, condensation occurs
  • Condensation can damage wood, plaster, paint and insulation
  • Damp conditions can lead to mold and mildew growth
  • Most states allow exclusion of mold damage from homeowner insurance policies
  • Ventilation is critical to help eliminate damage to your home
